Teen Therapy
Despite the many advantages, being a teenager in today's world is not easy. Under constant pressure to excel in school & sports, under constant scrutiny from friends and acquaintances in social circles, and now under a social media spotlight 24/7 – it’s no wonder teens are struggling to remain in control of their emotions and their lives.
If your teen is changing, becoming distant, shutting you out, struggling in school, showing signs of anxiety and depression, or engaging in dangerous or self-destructive behaviors, it's time to get help. The Aspyre team will work with your teen and your family to get things back on track.
Parent/guardian involvement is an expectation at Aspyre. Caregivers are a critical part of the change process. This involvement may take different forms depending on the needs of your teen and family. We will discuss this further during the initial session.

What We Do
Our integrated approach to therapy provides several advantages that can ultimately make your investment in therapy a more successful one! Our therapy process begins with developing a customized treatment plan and goals. Each client receives a psychological assessment to identify areas of concern. This assessment involves an individual and family interview and one or more evidence-based tests. The results of this assessment will be used to determine what needs and services a client and his/her family requires. This may include; individual therapy, group and/or family therapy, academic skills training, social skills training to help clients achieve their goals.

Supporting your teens Healthy Relationship with Technology
In today's digital age, technology plays a significant role in teens' lives, offering both opportunities and challenges. While devices can aid in education and social connection, excessive use may lead to issues such as anxiety, sleep disturbances, and academic decline.
Recognizing Signs of Problematic Technology Use
Parents should be vigilant for indicators that technology is adversely affecting their teen's well-being:
-
Emotional Changes: Increased irritability or anxiety when not using devices.
-
Physical Health: Neglect of sleep, nutrition, or personal hygiene.
-
Academic Performance: Declining grades or loss of interest in schoolwork.
-
Social Withdrawal: Reduced participation in offline activities or face-to-face interactions.
-
Dishonesty: Concealing or lying about screen time.
These behaviors may signal a need for intervention and support.
Strategies for Parents
To foster a balanced digital lifestyle for your teen:
-
Establish Clear Boundaries: Set specific times and areas in the home where device use is limited or prohibited.
-
Model Healthy Behavior: Demonstrate appropriate technology use in your own habits.
-
Encourage Alternative Activities: Promote involvement in sports, arts, or other offline interests.
-
Open Communication: Maintain an ongoing dialogue about the impacts of technology and listen to your teen's perspectives.
-
Utilize Parental Controls: Employ tools and apps to monitor and limit screen time effectively.
